Bruce James Talbert  (1838 - 1881)  was a Scottish Architect Designer and author and a member of the first wave of Glasgow School Architects and Designers.  He influenced the 'Modern Gothic' work of several leading American designers.  Examples of his work can be found in the V&A Museum London


This desk / writing table is one of a number of designs he produced for Gillow and company - the leading firm of 19th century cabinet makers.  Both drawers are stamped 'Gillow and Co'
