William Flint of Ashford
came from a well regarded line of Kent Clockmakers. He was born in 1733 at Westwell. He was the son of Thomas Flint. He was apprenticed to Thomas Gladdish and married his daughter in 1755 and settled in Charing in the 1760's. He moved to Ashford in1783. At least three further generations of the family were established in Ashford
