Small and elegant oak and mahogany longcase clock with a rare painted automata dial by a member of the Thristle clockmaking dynasty William Thristle of Stogursey


with a rare Cox of Taunton painted dial with rocking ship automata to the arch





The Thristle family of clockmakers worked almost exclusively in a small corner of North Somerset for over 150 years.  The family were the subject of an extensive research project by  N & D Woodford and the results published in a magnificent book "The Thristle Clockmakers of Somerset 1765 - 1899"
